Jaouda Berries - Morocco

Retouched-2.png

This investment was completed in 2019 and is managed under the Old Mutual African Agricultural Fund (OMAAF).

The investment is equipped with state-of-the-art drip irrigation systems and precision farming technology and underpinned by growing global demand for fresh, healthy & nutritious fruit.

Morocco fits into the supply window between South America and European production seasons. The investment includes expansion opportunities such as geographical diversification towards the southern hemisphere to achieve all-year-round production, and crop diversification towards new genetics and types of berries (raspberries, blackberries).

The farm is committed to good environmental and social practices and is Global G.A.P. and SMETA certified.

The project has been developed in partnership with Zalar Agri with the first harvest in 2021 in Kenitra and scheduled for 2022 in Agadir and Immouzer.

This is a greenfield development of 270 ha blueberries for the fresh consumption market mainly in Europe.

It is made up of three separate farms in Agadir, Kenitra, and Immouzer, ensuring production and marketing over a 6-month window, and currently planted with 7 low- and high-chill varieties from Fall Creek and Planasa
