Gala - Malawi

The investment in Gala was completed in 2021 and is managed under the Ulimi Fund - Old Mutual Malawi.

 

This investment forms part of a vision to build a fully integrated player in the global macadamia nut value chain from nursery to market, with a focus on social inclusion through the implementation of smallholder farming and beekeeping programs, woodlot projects, and women entrepreneurship initiatives, undertaken in cooperation with international development partners.

Gala has 6,000 ha with over 3,600 ha of irrigable land across 12 estates in the west of Lilongwe. Underpinned by favourable global demand for macadamia nuts, the farm has 1,400 ha developed, which is currently being increased to 2,000 ha.
